Ok it's time to be positive again. I looked in Mr E's mouth this morning and he's cut two top first molars overnight. They are red, swollen and sore, all that topped off with a horrific cold, no wonder he doesn't want to be put down. Yesterday I had another beautiful trip to my fave store, Flannerys. I picked up my two packets of spelt wraps, some organic strawberry jam (which we had this morning and to be honest, it shits all over Cottees!) and I also purchased something I've been after for a while. Mary has been steering me to the book shelf in that store for a while now and I keep picking up this little beauty:It is magnificent, I use that word a lot because since I've ditched my old ways of thinking, so many things really are magnificent in this world we live in!
This book is by two chicks, Iris and Gisela, they're Aussies with European heritage. They both have a strong interest in health, gardening and astrology. They research, experiment and promote ancient and not so ancient moon love!
A little excerpt from their book:
"Today we live in a world of global industrialisation. We eat genetically manipulated food and find chemicals in almost everything we touch. Our ancestors managed their bodies, land and work within the natural cycles of the seasons and the moon. They knew that daily activities such as body care, housekeeping, gardening and fishing had different outcomes at different times. This Moontime Diary works with the principles of the moon phases and positions. It helps you to choose the right moment to achieve better results with less effort. Of course you may not always be able to do jobs on the ideal days only. Still, you can experiment with rearranging routines and fine tune to your own needs."
Those who are aware of certain moon phases know that there is a New Moon, Waxing Moon (First and Second Quarter), Full Moon and Waning Moon (third and fourth quarter).
Another excerpt:
"Eating natural food at the right time helps our bodies to absorb and make the most of the nutrients provided; the same goes for herbs, tissue salts, homeopathic remedies, bush flowers etc. Even weight gain or loss can be helped or hindered when we realise that our body absorbs more fat, protein or carbohydrate on certain days and less on other days, depending on the phase and sign the moon is moving through.
The waning moon phase also lends itself to keeping and beautifying the home environment. As the keeper of your surroundings you can use your energy and the space around you more efficiently when you fine tune to the moon. Appropriate maintenance at the right time helps you create a relaxed, beautiful and healthy atmosphere in your home."
About the Moon Phases
New Moon: Reduce or concentrate your activity to the most essential part of your life. This is a very good time to rest and regenerate, an opportunity to fast or kick a bad habit. Meditative inquiry helps you clarify particular issues and presents you with new directions for the next lunar cycle.
Waxing Moon: As the moon is waxing and becoming fuller over a period of two weeks our cells are absorbing and retaining moisture, nutrients and information. Projects are gathering momentum and the overall pressure is rising. At this time all measures taken to nourish, strengthen and regenerate the body are extremely beneficial. Nutritious food and supplements like vitamins and minerals are assimilated more effectively and this can help you balance deficiencies. We also tend to gain weight, retain water and absorb more toxins now. Therefore if you have to watch your weight this is not a good time for a binge! Injuries and operations tend to have more complications closer to the full moon. This is the time to take projects a step further, to go out there and get things done.
Full Moon: When the moon and sun occupy opposite signs, the full moon rises on the eastern horizon at the same time as the sun sets in the west. The moon is seen as a full disk, reflecting the sun's light brightly. This is a short but very intensive time with high internal pressure, a fullness and ripeness, promise and hope. Generally an increase in crime rates and accidents can be observed. This is the worst time for operations for excessive bleeding and complications are more likely. Projects reach a climax or undergo a crisis.
Waning Moon: As the impulse changes from waxing to waning moon, cells are releasing moisture, energy, tension and toxins. All steps taken to deep cleanse, detox and letting go are more successful now than at any other time. Nutrients or toxins are absorbed less efficiently now and your body doesn't put weight on so easily. Lymphatic drainage, detoxifying mud wraps and cleansing facials are more effective. The waning moon phase is a favourable time for opeartions, the removal of sun spots, moles and warts; there are generally fewer complications and less scar formation. It is also the best time to consolidate, minimise and remove excess. This is a great time for general maintenance and repair work. The the Fourth Quarter, intergrate your experiences and finish projects before you start thinking about the next cycle, the next opportunity to grow and develop.
So, today, being the 29th May:
- watch and play competitive games
- great for a general cleanup
- take a leisurely trip
This book is now one of my many best friends!
